"Doors of Life" Center - HUMANISM THROUGH SACRIFICES

In these difficult days that our country is going through, due to the global pandemic of COVID-19, the Center "Doors of Life", already known for its humanity and charity to help people in need, has extends its activity to the citizens and the most problematic areas of the country. Regarding this initiative, the executive director of this Center, Dr. Bernard Progni, together with Dr. Ilirjana Agolli, have drafted a well-programmed action plan and strategy, in line with previous studies to identify individuals, families and areas in economic and health need. Of course, this humane work program has been drafted in cooperation with local government leaders of the respective areas, who have full knowledge and in detail about the situation.

Initially, the work started with the residents of the Grabjan Municipal Unit of the Divjaka Municipality of the Lushnja district, as the poorest and most problematic area for emergency medical and economic assistance. The management staff of the Center "Doors of Life", as well as the team of specialist doctors, after getting acquainted with the necessary statistics and documentation of the economic and health situation of this community, worked diligently to raise public awareness of citizens and businesses, who reacted quickly and to the best of their ability, contributing free of charge to people in need. In this difficult situation and full of risks to life, this was a bold and humane initiative of this Center, in full solidarity with the situation economic and health problems of the community of this rural area,

Thus, although in viral conditions and isolation due to the pandemic, the staff of the Center "Doors of Life", with an unusual commitment and management of work, managed to quickly create the necessary material base of medicines and equipment, as well as tools of transport, to come as soon as possible to help these residents in need. The situation required a perfect organization and management of works for the realization of the program designed by the Human Center "Doors of Life". So in charge of the work, this time were not only the management staff of the Center, but also specialist doctors, who provided voluntary contribution with visits, medical advice and free medicines. What stood out most during this event, was the solidarity and humanity of many citizens, who are willing to help the staff with materials, food and medicine, apparatus and means of transport, providing food aid to fifty poor families of the Grabjan Municipal Unit. "... Thanks to the generosity and solidarity of the citizens, the aid collected by our humanitarian organization, inside and outside the country, exceeded our expectations," says Dr. Benardi, so we had to change the strategy plan and add staff to better manage the situation. This time, the leading staff of the "Doors of Life" Center, was voluntarily joined by Dr. Ilirjana Agolli, endocrinologist and pathologist, with a rich work experience of 30 years in the field of medicine and qualified in her profession in Texas, USA. Thus, the team of the Center became more complete and more competent to provide a more qualified medical assistance in this viral situation for the residents of Grabjan, Lushnja.

Dr. Ilirjana Agolli, being in charge of this activity, helped with her experience in the good organization of work in the service of residents with free medical visits and medicines, going from house to house. Staff of the Center "Doors of Life", during this humanitarian activity was accompanied by the Deputy Mayor of Divjaka, Mr. Avdi Snalla and the administrator of the Grabjan Administrative Unit, Mr. Berti Rika. The team made free medical visits to the villages: Grabjan, Tre Urat, Stravec and Çermë, providing free medicines and health advice to the residents, as well as distributing food aid to families in need. The medical staff of the "Doors of Life" Center, being complete and with the necessary medical material base, during this activity,

The conclusion of the medical team during this outpatient service was that most of the residents of the Grabjan area of ​​Lushnja, due to the lack of specialist doctors, had not made any medical visit for several years. In these conditions, the staff of the Center "Doors of Life" appeals to the competent institutions to turn a blind eye to the economic and health problems of these forgotten residents and work to solve them in time, as delays will be with irreparable consequences.

In the framework of activities planned to help families in need, the staff of the Center "Doors of Life", these days of quarantine, distributed food aid to some residents of Paskuqan and Babrru areas, Municipality of Kamza, as well as residents with disabilities of Laprakë Municipal Administrative Units and Kombinat of the Municipality of Tirana.
